thelibster:bass

thelibster:bass is the great site with tons of transcriptions, lessons and sounds. Excellent reading, chord and ghost notes lessons. I spent a lot of time with them and all lessons, exercises and samples are perfect and balanced. They are leading you to success step by step. There are also a lot transcriptions of bass lines with mp3 samples.
I cannot remember any other site with such selected and carefully presented free material. Be patient and attentive and you’ll definitely increase your skills.

The best straps ever

If you are looking for great looking durable and comfortable strap for your beauty – check Italia Leather Straps. This is the best straps ever. I read a lot of positive reviews and bought one on eBay – the same seller, but much more cheaper. If you can show me strap that beat this one in quality and comfort and it will cost you $30 – tell me – I’ll take two. :)
Here is some advices:

  • Again, use eBay unless there are no such design you want – you can save extra $10 or $20
  • 4″ is more than enough ever if you are 6’8″ and 300lb guy (like me). I have 5″ wide strap and it is ok, but I think 4″ version could be better.
  • order “long” one unless you are short and your bass is above your belt. Spend some time with your old strap or piece of rope and think twice about strap’s length. For me “standard” is enough, but I cannot make it longer ever if I would.
  • Be patient and wait – usually it takes 4-6 weeks to get this piece of art

Yes, and prepare for the smell of fresh premium leather when you open your package :)

Tony Franklin – Metal fretless

Slapping, overdrive and fretless … but he rocks! Bass guitar is very young instrument and every experiment, every technique counts. His sound inspires me more to buy a fretless than “classic” stuff.
